A bit about everything

Hi there!

Well it's almost been a month. I can honestly say that it went by so fast.

New class, new professors in new buildings but one constant link between them all; art, the love of art, the love of the artistic process and expression.
It's nice constantly being around classmates who actually like being in art school. This was something uncommon in my class from high school which was an art high school, mind you.
The visual departments, like the drama and the music departments, are made of small groups: painting, sculpture, graphics, new media, graphic design and photography. These are the majors of which you can choose from when you decide to take the risk of going to art school.
These small groups of 8-16 people are most often together since we have all the same classes. I really like that this way we can meet and befriend students from other majors as if we were basically in the same class.
We spend most of the days together, We have drawing from 9am to 13pm then we hang out together as we make our way to our next class at 14pm till 18pm. And even after, some people still find the energy to hang out after class or get coffee or just crash a pub.
This semester we have the following classes : drawing.graphics, sculpture, history of art, anatomic drawing, psychology of artistic creation and artistic elements (which we hadn't had yet)
This college has three separate building in three different parts of the city so we often have to run around town to classes.

The intro to the beginning

Hi there!

Let me tell you a bit about this blog and myself.

My name is Gyöngyi ( strangest name in the world, right?) , but not so strange if you're Hungarian and/or living in Serbia (btw it gets weirder in Serbian : Đenđika). I'm an art lover, a popcorn fan and freshman in The Fine Arts Academy in Novi Sad in Serbia.
This blog will serve as a journal for my next four years of collage as an art major in the branch of traditional graphic printing ( not to be confused with graphic design... That's a whole other thing in itself). I will be writing about my experience with the school, with projects, professors, fellow artists, the curriculum.
I hope this blog will be helpful to students who are thinking about signing up for art school but don't really know what to expect. I don't know what to expect either, but I have no doubt it won't be easy as pie. I've attended high school in Hungarian which is my mother tongue and my Serbian is not perfect so continuing my education in Serbian will be a challenge. Many different people who have attended came to me with different opinions and feelings about their experience but I'll see for myself.

This will be a hell of a ride. Let's go.
